LAHORE: Pakistan Electronic Media Reg
ulatory Authority (PEMRA) chairman Absar Alam
immediately abandoned his charge after the Lahore High Co
urt declared the notification of Absar Alam’s appointment null and void.
The court stated that his appointment was not made through proper channels and as per requirements of law. It ordered the federal government to appoint new PEMRA chairman within the next 30 days.
